Musical
Background As a quartet, we enjoy the variety of engagements which we undertake and are happy to consider any function requested. Repertoire lists and CD's are available, as are specimen recital programmes for string and/or flute quartet but again, choice of music is entirely personal for each occasion. Wedding ceremony music is, of course, discussed individually and we are happy to arrange any piece you may require if it is appropriate. If we think it won't work effectively, we will tell you ! All players in the quartet have varied separate careers as soloists, chamber musicians, London orchestral players and music examiners / teachers. Between us we have worked throughout Europe, the United States and the Far East, as well as in all parts of the U.K. LEADER, Helen Duffy Has established an international reputation as both violinist and flautist, having in the past won the Guildhall First Siliver Medal for the most outstanding diploma (Violin) and South East Arts and The Royal Over-Seas League Music Competitions (Flute). She divides her time between performing and music examining worldwide for The Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music. VIOLA PLAYER, Sue Taylor Spent many years as a member of the BBC Radio Orchestra, where she played and recorded with numerous household names - Neil Sedaka, Shirley Bassey and Smokey Robinson to name but a few. She continues to enjoy a busy career performing and teaching. VIOLINIST, Charles Tait The brains of the group with a degree in Classics from Oxford. In addition to much experience in orchestral, chamber and solo playing, he is a talented pianist and exponent of the mouth organ ! (commissions considered !) CELLIST, Nicola Tait Enjoys a busy freelance career, working with many London orchestras including the Philharmonia and Academy of St. Martins-in-the-Fields, and playing internationally as a chamber musician and soloist. Her versatility as a player means that she is equally happy playing on Radio 3 or The Jools Holland Show ! Nicola and Charles are married (to each other!) with a 2-year old son, Edward) |
